Telegram backer Pavel Durov has announced he will give $200,000 / €145,000 in Bitcoin cash to whoever breaks Telegram's encrypted protocol. The contest runs until March 1.

According to a post on the telegram.org site, “Starting today, each day Paul (+79112317383) will be sending a message containing a secret email address to Nick (+79218944725).”

“In order to prove that Telegram crypto was indeed deciphered and claim your prize, send an email to the secret email address from Paul’s message,” reads the announcement.

Your proof consists of the entire block of text contained in the message, your Bitcoin address (so you can receive your handsome reward), and a detailed explanation of the hack.

“Encrypted Telegram traffic from and to Paul’s account is publicly available for download from this page,” says telegram.org. “You can send Telegram messages to Paul and view his traffic in real time.”

The company will publish the participating keys necessary to decrypt the traffic after the winner is announced, as evidence that the competition was fair. The FAQ will answer any questions you may have. Good luck!
