During Google’s I/O keynote yesterday, the search giant confirmed Google Maps for iPad. The application, packing a ton of new features and enhancements, is expected to arrive this summer alongside an updated version of the iPhone app.

When you search for places in the new Google Maps, a unique map is built with related routes and locations. You can star places to mark them as favorites, and even publish reviews, while recommendations are tailored specifically to your needs.

When you find a place you like, just click on it to get more information about that place. The public transit view compares trips based on the number of transfers, travel time, and walking distance.

When you click any point on the map, a card will appear with directions and an option for street view. You can get a better view by opening the carousel.

Finally, the new Earth view combines the 3D experience from Google Earth with Maps, for “a whole new perspective on the world,” according to the search giant.
