textPlus 5.6.3, an updated version of the handy free texting tool available to US and Canada residents, has been released featuring a bunch of fixes.

The developer claims to have finally addressed intermittent crashes occurring when opening conversations, a bug that required users to scroll down to see the most recent message full-screen, and images should no longer crop as square.

textPlus, Inc. further promises an improved calling experience and Bluetooth support for various iOS firmware versions in a future update.

For people who are hearing about textPlus for the first time, the free app offers unlimited free texting to anyone using the app in the US or Canada, as well as local and international calls for a small fee, much like Skype.

The app is localized in English, French, German, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, Russian, Simplified Chinese, Spanish, Traditional Chinese, and you can download textPlus 5.6.3 on any iDevice with iOS 5 (or newer) installed.

You get a free phone number with the app and the option to snag a downloadable US and Canadian texting and calling plan for less than $5.00 (€3.65) per month.

Supported hardware includes iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4, iPhone 4S, iPhone 5, iPhone 5s, iPhone 5c, iPad second generation, iPad third generation, iPad fourth generation, iPad Air, iPad mini, iPad mini with Retina display, iPod touch 4th generation, and iPod touch 5th generation.
