New features, tweaks and fixes to be found in the next major Firefox release

The next major release of Mozilla’s popular web browser, Firefox 22.0 will bring at least one noteworthy enhancement for Mac users. The new feature is currently available in a highly-unstable Alpha build, but will soon make its way into Mozilla Firefox 22 Final.

The nifty feature is a “download progress” indicator in the Dock application icon.

It may not sound like much, but I personally prefer to see a progress bar in the Dock rather than in the browser’s actual window. It takes up space and every browser shows it in a different corner. If only this became the consensus among download managers / web browsers on the Mac!

The next Firefox will also bring the ability to change the HTML5 audio/video playback rate, improved WebGL rendering performance through asynchronous canvas updates, improved memory usage and display time, and other stuff.

Remember that Firefox 22.0 Aurora is an unstable Alpha. Go for the latest stable version if you rely on Firefox for work and other important things. All the latest versions can be found at the link below.
