The humorously chauvinistic Duke Nukem must save the day once again

This week, iOS customers who are fans of 3D Realms’ early works will be able to reminisce like never before. Duke Nukem: Manhattan Project is coming to iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad.

A side-scrolling video game for originally released for PC by Sunstorm Interactive, 3D Realms, and ARUSH Entertainment, Duke Nukem: Manhattan Project is set in a 3D environment, which was somewhat atypical for side-scrollers at that time.

The game is also referred to as a 2.5D platformer. The reason for that is because, according to the game’s wiki, “The levels and characters are fully three-dimensional, and both the camera and Duke can move along any axis, but movement is restricted to a two dimensional plane.”

Duke Nukem: Manhattan Project is slated for release later this week and will have customizable touch controls along the bottom of the screen, according to Shack News. No word on pricing and system requirements just yet, but I wouldn’t be surprised if it called for iOS 7 and iPhone 4 as minimum.
