Hobbyist Software Limited is out with a new version of the free VLC Remote app for iPhone and iPad. They’re adding support for VLC Media Player 2.1 even before VideoLAN was able to roll out the final bits.

The release notes for VLC Remote version 6.30 start out with a bug fix for WiFi connections. The updated app now handles the first connection even if WiFi is not available, says the development team.

Users can now search when browsing on iPads, and a skip button has been added. The position bar is now sensitive over larger areas, and users are able to to enqueue YouTube movies as well as add them.

The remote app fully supports VLC 2.1, even though Video LAN has yet to release this version of the open source media player. Last, but certainly not least, VLC Remote 6.30 includes various tweaks and fixes.
