VideoLAN has released a new version of its popular VLC Media Player for all supported platforms, including OS X. On the Mac, PowerPC users are targeted by this release.

If you’re using the latest VLC Media Player ("Twoflower") on a PPC Mac, chances are you’ve been experiencing some issues with track selection. As far as I can tell, the fix for track selection on PowerPC machines is the only Mac-specific change in this release.

However, it’s a noteworthy one, as there still are a lot of VLC Player fans out there using the player on a G5 Mac, for instance.

Minor UI improvements are noted, alongside a fix for an issue that could lead to "loss of media files created through transcoding on OS X." The new VLC also incorporates a minor libVLC crash on OS X computers.

This and a lot more (general) tweaks and fixes can be found in VLC 2.0.7 for Mac OS X, available immediately at the link below.
