Sandboxing means users have to install this version manually

Developer Tapbots is pleased to announce yet another Mac test build of the highly-acclaimed Tweetbot. Alpha 5 is the last version that supports Lion, and the update requires a manual install.

Fans of this terrific tweeting machine will be glad to learn that Tweetbot OS X enables Drafts window, Edit Profile (my profile tab). Mute Keyword (mute tab), the ability to drag and drop user names and links, Storify support, and animated GIF support.

The update fixes issues related to lists in columns, memory leaks, and various other bugs. As noted above, Tweetbot Alpha 5 is the last remaining version of the application to support OS X 10.7 aka Lion, and you'll have to download and install it manually, because of sandboxing (a security thing).

That’s not to say the final version won’t support the older Mac OS when it’s released to the general population. Right now it’s still in its early testing stages. It’s also going to be a paid app when it’s out (wink).
