The team at Transmission has released a fresh update for users of its BitTorrent client for Macs, adding an onslaught of code corrections.

Transmission 2.82 fixes a number of crashing bugs involving web search, adding UDP trackers whose hosts’s canonical name could not be found, sending handshakes to some peers, parsing incoming encrypted handshakes, bad file descriptors, queued torrents, and so on.

For Mac users in particular, the update fixes a bug that caused slow download speeds until editing preferences.

Other general fixes and tweaks can be found in the changelog for Transmission 2.82.

Transmission requires Mac OS X 10.6 (Snow Leopard) or later, and an Intel-based Mac. The software is free to download and use indefinitely, but the development team will sometimes nag you to consider making a donation.
