Electronic Arts’ Tetris Blitz has received its biggest update yet, which includes a brand new Tournaments mode where you compete against other Blitzers and earn coins.

According to EA, the new Tournaments Mode allows players to “Compete against other players in limited-time events, each with its own unique rules and leaderboards.” You can create a cool profile featuring an original avatar for your Tournaments presence.

Other changes in this exciting update include an updated News section which serves up headlines regarding tournaments and challenges, and some Holiday surprises, which EA wants to keep under wraps (at least as far as the changelog is concerned).

Some code corrections are included as well, “to improve your Blitzing experience,” according to EA.

You can download Tetris Blitz for free on any iPhone, iPod touch, or iPad that supports iOS 5 (or later). Tablets are natively supported, including the newest iPad mini with Retina display, and the iPad Air.
