Micromat Inc. today released an updated version of TechTool, the company’s single-click diagnostics utility that lets you scan CPU, memory, video hardware, and more parts of your system to identify problems and avoid costly repairs or replacements.

TechTool alerts you when something is not working properly, such as your hard drive failing or your video card heating up. It even boasts options for Drive Repair and Data Recovery, as well as testing, maintenance, and optimization tools.

TechTool Pro 7.0.3 Build 988 was released today to fix SMART Check to display correctly with zero threshold value and to address a problem with the eDrive Restart button for Thunderbolt hard drives with an eDrive volume.

The SPD Reader tool has been updated to prevent excessive logging, and Mac Pro (Late 2013) models are now supported. An issue with Volume Cloning tool is also patched.

Other changes include: updated Cache dial to support up to 32MB, updated eDrive to avoid copying unnecessary files and folders, and updated Bonjour service names for the Local Network tool.

The new software includes refreshed translations for French, German, Italian, Japanese, and Chinese (Simplified) localization, as well as “many additional machine and location identification strings.”

Requirements include an Intel processor, 512 MB RAM, and OS X 10.6 (Snow Leopard) or newer. Download TechTool Pro 7.0.3 Build 988 today and try it out. Existing users needn’t pay a dime, while newcomers can buy a license for $99.99 USD (€72). Yeah, it’s not exactly cheap.
