Microsoft has released an update for Skype fans who use a Mac to carry out video calls, improving the software’s stability.

Whether you’re using the app instant messaging component, audio calls, or video calls, “the release mainly focuses on improving stability and reducing crashes,” says the Redmond company.

“We’ve also improved performance at launch time and made low-level changes which will reduce random crashes,” Microsoft adds.

The computer giant behind the Windows operating system further explains that Skype’s functionality has been expanded to allow users to search for text in status messages. The update also makes the Video Messages flow more usable.

The Dial Pad’s suggestion menu also gets some improvements, and you can now flag tooltips in the conversation view. Finally, the update includes some minor fixes to enhance performance.

This release is exclusive to OS X customers. You can download Skype 6.12.431 on any Mac running Mac OS X 10.5.8 (Leopard) or newer.
