Google has rolled out Picasa 3.9.14.34, a new version of the company’s photo editing/sharing application for Mac OS X. The new release boasts closer integration with online contact management and better face tagging.

The new Picasa Mac client prevents loss of online contact information, adds a Refresh Contacts button for People Manager, merges duplicate contacts a lot better, ensures data from G+ supercedes GMail data for duplicate contacts, and no longer creates GMail contacts from local contacts.

Picasa 3.9.14.34 further includes Face Tagging enhancements, such as a fix to stop creating duplicate online contacts for text-tags, improved auto-completion for tagging contacts, and the ability to allow control of tag uploads on per-contact basis.

Other new additions include improved synchronization between local and online tags, better avoidance and removal of duplicate shapes, and a new feature to write all face tags to XMP (labeled as experimental).
