Facebook Inc. has released a new version of its Messenger standalone client app for iOS customers, claiming to offer a redesigned interface with a bunch of new features as well.

People visiting the iTunes App Store to download Facebook Messenger for their iOS devices will be greeted by version 3.0.1, whose changelog states, “A completely new design, updated for iOS 7 [and] original in-app sounds.”

According to the social network, this particular version also comes with the neat ability to message people in your phone book. However, these are all enhancements delivered in version 3.0, released last week.

Although the changelog remains unchanged with the release of Facebook Messenger 3.0.1, it is pretty clear that some code corrections were in order. A lot of users have been reporting crashes since installing the 3.0 update, a similar scenario to that involving the heavily publicized Facebook 6.7.1 update.
