Facebook Inc. has been receiving some requests to allow videos to play automatically in the news feed, sort of like Vine. The company decided to deliver.

The social networking giant has released Facebook 6.8 for iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad, which comes with the neat ability to have videos play automatically in the news feed.

If you’re thinking that Facebook is trying to replicate some Vine functionality, you’re right, it is. You have to tap on the video to enable the sound.

The rest of the update deals with bugs, ensuring a smooth experience for all iDevice owners using iOS 6 or newer.

Download Facebook 6.8 for any iPhone, iPod touch or iPad running iOS 6. The app is localized in English, Bokmål, Norwegian, Czech, Danish, Dutch, Finnish, French, German, Greek, Indonesian, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Malay, Polish, Portuguese, Russian, Simplified Chinese, Spanish, Swedish, Thai, Traditional Chinese, Turkish, and Vietnamese.

The Facebook Messenger app was also updated recently for iOS customers. Version 1.3 brings bug fixes and minor improvements, as well as Japanese translations.
