iOS developer Protein is offering Dandelion as a free download for iPhone and iPad users, delivering a touching story “about bullying and the power of imagination.”

Filed under books, the interactive story called Dandelion reportedly came about when the author's son experienced bullying. Users who download Dandelion on their iDevice are encouraged to “discuss bullying and discover whether imagination can diminish fear and build confidence.”

Chosen by Apple as one of the App Store’s best titles in 2012, Dandelion is now free to download for the holiday season.

Natively compatible with all iPhone, iPod, and iPad models, the book sports some nifty illustrations, a unique soundtrack, and an inspiring storyline. The app has been translated in Japanese, Mandarin, Spanish, German, and French. By default, Dandelion is set in English.

The author asks users to note that his book “is not presented as a solution to bullying as bullying takes many forms and there is no one solution.”
