MainStage 2, Apple’s live-performance tool with a full-screen interface, hardware control, and an uber collection of plug-ins and sounds, has received an important update this week.

MainStage 2.2.1 is a free update to existing users. It addresses overall stability and performance issues, according to Apple.

The update resolves a number of issues related to the download and installation of basic and additional content, as well as a stability issue that could cause MainStage to hang during startup while initializing MIDI. CPU performance and latency are improved, particularly when using the Playback plug-in, according to the change log.

An issue that prevented stereo audio input from working as expected has been fixed as well. Finally, the update fixes a problem that blocked sidechain input for plug-ins. Use the link below to grab the latest version of MainStage from the Mac App Store.
