Apache OpenOffice, the cross-platform multi-language productivity suite from Apache Software Foundation, has reached version 4.1.0 final/stable on all supported platforms, adding new features, improvements, and additional language support.

First and foremost, Apache OpenOffice.org 4.1.0 adds comments/annotations on text ranges and support for iAccessible2, a new accessibility API that complements Microsoft's earlier work on MSAA.

Improvements include in-place editing of Input Fields, an interactive Crop feature, the ability to import pictures from File and support for graphics Drag & Drop, loading/importing of 3D Charts, improved graphic modifications/filters for vector graphics, clipboard enhancements for graphic content, and more.

The software now keeps original graphic data whenever possible, and Seamonkey has been replaced by NSS (Network Security Services).

Newly supported languages include Bulgarian, Danish, Hebrew, Hindi, Norwegian Bokmal, and Thai. Updated translations are available for Basque, Dutch, German, Lithuanian, Portuguese, Serbian, Spanish, and Turkish. New and updated dictionaries are available for Lithuanian, Portuguese, English, German, and Gaelic.

Apache OpenOffice requires Java 1.5 or later, 512 MB RAM, and 400 MB of hard disk space. Mac users can download a PowerPC version for OS X 10.3.
