Flash developers on Mac OS X, listen up. Adobe has released a new Flash Player beta which includes a new feature: “recursive stop on MovieClip.”

Targeting game developers in particular, this new feature enables programmers to “effectively pause/stop a running SWF without having to iterate through all of the objects on the DisplayList.”

To provide an easy way to stop the timeline animations of all MovieClip objects that are children of the corresponding DisplayObjectContainer, a new method called “stopAllChildren” has been added to the DisplayObjectContainer ActionScript class.

Adobe has also released new versions of its Reader XI and AIR platforms. You can read all about these updates right here.

Developers can download the new Adobe Flash Player 11.8.800.42 Beta at the link below. Regular users will also find the stable (11.7.700.202) version behind the same link.
