Update removes StatusNet support, updates Twitter integration

The Adium Team is out with a new version of its free Mac-compatible instant messaging client developed using the OS X Cocoa API.

Adium 1.5.7 removes StatusNet support, a change explained in more detail on the official Adium blog, here.

The gist of it is that only a few people used this feature, and the fact that StatusNet was deprecated in favor of pump.io didn’t help its situation either. Those who insist to see pump.io support added to Adium are invited to up-vote the ticket.

Twitter support has been updated, and retweets now properly display the original author.

“t.co” links are now expanded, and parsing has been fixed to conform to the standard.

The developers also note that Adium’s Twitter support has been completely rewritten, but promise that “transition should be automatic and quick.”

Other addressed issues include: a crash when redrawing the contact list, a bug that could cause SSL connections to be closed prematurely, and a number of weaknesses in the SSL code.
