DisplayLink today announced the release of DisplayLink Driver 2.2 Beta, an update for OS X customers using DisplayLink monitors on OS X 10.8 Mountain Lion and OS X 10.9 Mavericks.

According to the announcement, “A 2.2 Beta software release is now available. This improves the user experience with a single DisplayLink display on OS X 10.9 Mavericks. [...] Unfortunately there are still issues using multiple DisplayLink displays on OS X 10.9.”

The firm offers a summary of the known issues in this article and proceeds to outline what’s been fixed in this beta update. The company explains that a number of applications can show severe flickering on DisplayLink screens, including Safari, QuickTime, and the App store.

“This issue is resolved on 10.8 and 10.9 with up to one DisplayLink screen connected,” the developer says.

Flickering is also incurred when the computer deals with HTML5 and Flash content, but it shouldn’t happen anymore with the 2.2 update, according to the release notes.

The update also addresses corruption and freeze of the DisplayLink screen after replacing the monitor on the HDMI connection, as well as a blank screen flaw.
