File this one under “unorthodox.” Nassau County Executive Edward Mangano apparently believes more in deeds than he does in words, as he took the oath of office for his second tenure on an iPad.

You read that right. According to Long Island’s Newsday.com (where you'll also find an embedded clip), “Addressing a standing-room-only audience at Bethpage High School, where he graduated in 1980, Mangano took the oath of office on an iPad with the Bible pulled up when a printed copy could not be located.”

Mangano got sworn in for his second term on Thursday, and while his speech appeared to come from the heart, commenters on the story couldn’t help blaming him for taking the oath with his hand placed on a touch-screen.

Because of the sensitive nature of the subject (political and religious), I urge commenters to try and keep harsh language to a minimum.
