A simple tool that can control 12V DC Fan via Arduino and open shield board

Setsushi Minami has slashed the purchase price of his Cooler Control OS X app to zero, allowing everyone with a DIY spirit to leverage his simple program while using an external cooler with their Mac.

The thing you see pictured above is a DIY cooler made using the Arduino uno. This programmable gizmo works hand in hand with Minami’s Cooler Control app, which lets you monitor the temperature at CPU die levels, see the built-in fan speed, and control external fans.

According to AppShopper, the app used to sell for $2.99 / €2.59.

I wouldn’t be caught dead spending more than the bandwidth costs on Cooler Control, and I’m guessing many others have come to this realization too, including Mr. Minami himself. Which is probably why you can now download it for free.
