Apple revamps interface with a single-window layout and streamlined controls

FCP export tool Compressor 4.1 is out today for Mac OS X featuring a new interface, new encoding technologies, the ability to upload 4K video to YouTube, and more.

Compressor 4.1 is a free download for all existing users, and a $49.99 / €44,99 one-time purchase for new customers.

The updated exporting tool offers a new interface based on a single-window layout. Apple has streamlined the controls to make it more usable, and it has simplified the setup for distributed encoding. Other highlights from this release can be found below.

You’ll need 4GB of RAM to even think about using the software, and 8GB if you’re planning to mess around with 4K resolutions. Your system also needs an OpenCL-capable graphics card or Intel HD Graphics 3000 (or newer), and 1GB of VRAM for 4K video.
