Users of CleanMyMac 2 have a new firmware to download and install featuring an updated Safety database and some fixes. Customers are encouraged to download the new build, as it includes important code corrections that can help keep their Mac healthy.

While the legitimacy of cleaning apps is debatable, in our tests we’ve found CleanMyMac to deliver on its promise, purging Macs of unnecessary clutter that piles up over time, and basically just helping the system stay healthy.

MacPaw updates CleanMyMac on a regular basis, and the latest version deployed by the Ukrainian developer addresses a few issues, making the software more reliable.

CleanMyMac 2.2.4 includes an updated Safety database, which helps keep the Mac clean of unwanted files and programs, as well as an updated About window, which basically just describes CleanMyMac, lists the current version, etc.

As far as code corrections go, MacPaw addressed a crash on launch and an issue with automatic updates. The latter problem has been a common occurrence in several versions of the software, so hopefully they’ve rid the app of the update hangs for good.

To download CleanMyMac 2.2.4, all you need is an Intel-based Mac with OS X 10.7 Lion or later installed. A demo version is available so you can try before you buy the software.
