Mac developer Mark Allan is out with a brand new version of his free antivirus software for OS X users, ClamXav 2.6.2 (build 311), which adds a few handy features.

You can never be too safe in this day and age, and whoever tells you that Macs are virus-free need their head examined. Although AV apps do take their toll on your system (some more than others), it’s better to be safe than sorry.

Also, do regular backups. That’s probably the best piece of advice you could give any user, regardless of their OS. Going off the rails here. Okay.

ClamXav 2.6.2 Build 311 was released today with a trio of new additions, including an updated ClamAV engine (0.98.1), a new option to force engine re-installation by holding down the Option/Alt key at launch, and the neat ability to download additional signatures from ClamXav.com.

That last bit is for those who really care about the security of their system, so I don’t need to explain the perks either way. Download ClamXav 2.6.2 Build 311 now from Softpedia.
