14 DAY TRIAL // The JJ Abrams-owned Bad Robot Interactive studio has churned up an impressive iPhone app that lets you add Hollywood effects to your own footage - for instance, blow a car to smithereens (as shown in the above video).
Going by the demonstrations put out by Bad Robot Interactive, the app’s capabilities are pretty impressive.
Action Movie FX is free and lets you choose from two big-budget effects: Missile Attack and Car Smash. Additional FX can be obtained via in-app purchase (99 cents apiece), and more are on the way, according to the developers.
I can see this being used for quite a few April Fools' jokes. Imagine filming a friend’s car with a clear view of the license plate and everything, then applying one of these effects to the footage, and having some anonymous person send him the video via email.
Let me make one thing clear. I said "imagine". If your friends are faint hearted, it’s probably best to skip this idea altogether.
