CSR has announced its newest Universal Print Interpreter Software (IPS) which adds support for the latest wireless printing protocols, including Apple’s.

The latest generation of CSR’s Universal Print Interpreter software – IPS 2012.2 – ensures that numerous devices can handle print jobs from the likes of Apple’s iPhone and iPad.

IPS 2012.2 optimizes the handling of PDF files generated by Apple’s Quartz 2D rendering subsystem. According to CSR, it includes extensions for other print formats used by Apple’s mobile operating system and OS X Lion and Mountain Lion

The software also includes extensions to receive print jobs directly via Google’s Cloud Print.

Anthony Murray, CSR’s Business Group SVP, says IPS 2012.2 allows printer manufacturers to “quickly offer their users the widest possible number of printing options while making printing from wireless devices – whether from Apple, Google or others – far easier than ever before.”
