Apple is reportedly ordering a “large number of parts” to kick off production of its much rumored low-cost iPhone model, with TSMC making the processor and Foxconn supplying the inner frame and battery.

A Chinese Commercial Times report picked up by Japan’s Macotakara reveals (via the latter’s translation and an additional English translation from Japanese) that “Apple’s supplier partners had started to ship large number of parts for low-cost iPhone.”

The device will reportedly be equipped with a processor made at 28 nanometers by none other than TSMC. Apple has long been rumored to tap Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company for its next generation of processors to reduce its reliance on Samsung.

Other suppliers named in the Chinese report include Taiflex Scientific, which is reportedly tasked with producing the flexible circuits (flex cables); Largan Precision, a longtime Apple partner which continues to supply the 8 megapixel camera module for this unconfirmed handset; and Foxconn Electronics, which “supplies 90% of inner-frame and battery modulem,” according to the Japanese blog.
