Apple is reminding developers to constantly optimize their connections to the Apple Push Notification Service via a new announcement on its Developer site.

Titled “Optimizing Connections to the Apple Push Notification Service,” the memo aims to educate developers regarding the proper handling of connections to Apple’s cloud-based service for pushing notifications to customers’ devices.

Apple states that “The Apple Push Notification Service provides a high-speed, high-capacity interface, so you should establish and maintain an open connection to handle all your notifications.”

The company explains that “Connections that are repeatedly opened and closed will affect the performance and stability of your connection to the Apple Push Notification Service and may be considered denial-of-service attacks.”

As such, developers must ensure that they don’t send notifications to devices that no longer have your app installed by connecting regularly to the feedback service.
