Apple has released a new version of its iBooks authoring tool for Mac users, addressing graphical issues involving fonts.

Of all the problems iBooks Author could have, an issue with the fonts is clearly unacceptable. Case in point, Apple’s engineers took the code for some sifting and found something wrong in the app’s DNA.

They found the problem and patched it. According to Apple, iBooks Author 2.1.1 “resolves an issue where custom fonts may not properly display.”

For those of you who aren’t familiar with iBooks Author, the program is a free e-book authoring tool supplied by Apple to assist the creation and distribution of electronic books for the iBooks Store.

These books are highly interactive and can contain photo galleries, movies, Keynote presentations, 3D objects, and more. iBooks Author is a free download, but you’ll need a developer account with Apple to sell a book in the iBooks Store.
