Credit can be used towards the purchase of any content on the iTunes Store

Apple has begun crediting App Store customers who purchased iLife and iWork apps after the company’s September 1 policy change, which makes these apps free downloads for iOS 7 devices.

The Cupertino giant is reaching out to these customers via email, acknowledging that “On September 10, 2013, Apple announced that iPhoto, iMovie, Keynote, Pages, and Numbers iOS apps are now available as a free download on the App Store for qualifying iOS 7 compatible devices activated on or after September 1, 2013.”

If you’ve somehow purchased one or more of these apps on or after September 1, you shouldn’t have to pay for them. Which is why Apple is providing you with an iTunes code in the amount of your otherwise unnecessary purchase. So go ahead and check your email for a similar message from the mother ship.

Apple says the credit can be used towards the purchase of anything your heart desires, so long as that content lives in the iTunes Store, App Store, or iBooks Store.

The company offers instructions for redeeming the code at this address.
