Apple is reportedly refunding App Store customers who managed to snag GameStore, a 1 dollar app that wasn’t supposed to go live.

In an email sent to App Store users, Apple’s iTunes Store Customer Support staff acknowledges: “You recently purchased the GameStore app. The app was made available for sale prematurely. We apologize for the problem and have refunded the purchase amount back to your account.”

According to the company headquartered at 1 Infinite Loop, Cupertino, California, “These funds will be applied to your original payment method within 5 business days.”

An Apple spokesman confirmed to Cnet that the above e-mail comes from Apple, and not a third-party. It is still unclear whether GameStore is aimed at the general population, or Apple developers only.
