Apple is offering “Fitocracy Macros – How much should I eat to lose weight” its own banner on the App Store in the Fitness category, praising its qualities for enabling people to lose weight not by starving, but by eating.

Sounds too good to be true? Well, it’s probably no mystery that you can’t live without eating, so if you’re going to do it anyway, at least do it responsibly and with an eye on those calories.

“Brought to you by Fitocracy, Mashable's ‘Top Innovation in Health & Fitness’ winner, ‘Macros’ is a super-simple macro and calorie counter for people who are tracking their macronutrients (macros for short) to help them reach their fitness goals, whether that's losing weight, or building lean muscle,” according to the creators.

Updated recently to version 1.0.1, Fitocracy Macros now offers a simple way to “manually” track protein, fat, and carb macronutrient consumption for each meal, view macro history and calorie consumption, see average weekly macros and calorie intake, and more. Some “coming soon” features are highlighted below.

• The option of searching for and adding foods from a nutritional database for a more automated macro-counting approach • Fiber counting • Water counting • Alcohol counting • Syncing with Fitocracy to back-up your data • The option to share your macros with your Fitocracy Group Fitness trainer

Download Fitocracy Macros and start getting into shape today. The app requires iOS 7.0 and a compatible iDevice.
