Cupertino looking to better distinguish the full-size iPad from the iPad mini

An industry analyst who used to work for Apple’s Developer Relations department has spilled the beans on the company’s plans to introduce a thin keyboard akin to that of the Microsoft Surface.

Said keyboard would be integrated in the tablet’s well known Smart Cover, allowing for a more portable productivity solution.

Ex-Apple Developer Relations employee Jamie Ryan says, “I’ve been speaking to a couple of people at Apple for the last few days and they have told me that a case for the full size iPad that mimics Microsoft’s touch cover has been prototyped.”

“It’s not clear whether the process is far enough along to make this Tuesdays event but they did say a few different styles had been in testing for a while.”

Ryan suggests Apple is interested in making the bigger iPad a better work tool, which would also differentiate it more from the iPad mini. However, the analyst says prototypes are what they are, so we shouldn’t hold our collective breath for an announcement at tomorrow’s iPad event.
