Mac users upgrading to OS X Mavericks may have noticed an unsolicited notification popping up in the upper right corner of their screens stating, “What’s new in OS X Mavericks.”

The system will prompt you to take a tour of the software, either then or at a later time (from the Finder’s Help menu). Accept the invitation and you’re taken to an area on Apple’s site where 10 slides flash before your eyes with cool animations and effects showing you the key features in OS X 10.9.

Apple details iBooks, Maps, Calendar, Safari, Tags, Multiple Displays, iCloud Keychain, Notifications, Finder Tabs, and offers an Explore area where you can quickly jump to any of the aforementioned features.

Unlike guides with still graphics, the animated tutorial helps users better understand how the new features work to their advantage. A perfect example is the Multiple Displays slide. The guided tour is available here: What’s New in OS X Mountain Lion.
