Some users remain bricked as Apple confirms the purpose of the new release

Apple has formally published the release notes for a troublesome Apple TV firmware, revealing that the purpose of the update was to address an issue that required some units to be connected to iTunes.

According to the company headquartered at 1 Infinite Loop, Cupertino, California, Apple TV 4.4.1 “Addresses an issue that required a small number of Apple TV units to be connected to iTunes in order to complete the update.”

However, this is precisely what users are reporting after applying the new software, or so suggest the people commenting over at 9to5mac.

“Bricked my Apple TV too. Have to go out [and] buy a Micro USB! This is b*****it. Now that Steve is gone the deadwood are back in charge.”

Have to say the thought did cross my mind too, but I’m sure this mess-up doesn’t have anything to do with Tim Cook replacing Jobs as CEO.
