Giant online retailer, Amazon.com is selling the second-generation Apple TV for $89.99, a ten dollar price drop matching Best Buy’s current offer. Interestingly, the retailer lists the product as a 2010 model.

Listed as “Apple TV MC572LL/A (2010)”, the set-top box is now cheaper to buy via Amazon.com than it is at Apple.

The fact that it’s labeled as a 2010 model has spurred speculation that Amazon may be aware of an upcoming model, though I’m sure Apple didn’t spill the beans of any new TV solution to the online retailer.

Nevertheless, Apple is widely rumored to plan the introduction of a full-fledged HD television in the near future. The device is said to be one of Steve Jobs last major projects, and that it will revolutionize the television industry. Most analysts’ bets are on a 2012 announcement.
