Because VoIP data is sent digitally instead via analog telephone line, users are able to make long-distance or international calls while paying small amounts of money.
Softphones are client apps for making and receiving VoIP calls and they function in almost the same way conventional telephones do.
These programs allow users to connect IP and/or USB phones rather than having to use a microphone or a headset.
