Quad Tone RIP is both easy to use for a novice user who is just starting to print digital B&W photographs and yet powerful enough for the advanced users who wish to customize, profile and calibrate their entire workflow.

Beyond just the printing capability the product also includes several tools that allow the user to create a complete color-managed system for black and white printing. This includes making full B&W ICC profiles for both printing and soft-proofing within Photoshop or any other editing package that allows soft-proofing.

Quad Tone RIP is available for both Apple Mac computers running Mac OS X and Windows PC computers running Windows Vista, XP or 2000. The printers supported are all Epson inkjet printers and inksets are both standard manufacturer inksets and custom dedicated B&W inksets.

Many combinations have already been profiled. Check for printer and ink combinations. Virtually any inkset can be profiled but that requires a densitometer or spectrophotometer.

System requirements

Previous versions before 2.6 resided in several "hidden" OS X system folders. Now there are two folders that contain all the files for QuadToneRIP. The first folder is /Applications/QuadToneRIP which contains all the user accessed programs,
Patch-QTR-2.6.2.pkg
run the appropriate printer/ink install script from /Applications/QuadToneRIP/Profiles/

What's new in Quad Tone RIP 2.7.7:

This is a Mac OSX only release specifically for OS X El Capitan compatibility.
El Capitan prohibits installations in an area that was used by QTR so this update moves those files to a permitted area.
It's recommended that you update QTR to 2.7.7 before updating your OSX to El Capitan. This cleans out the old locations while access is still permitted. If you don't QTR still will work just fine but if you Add Printer in System Preferences it will appear that 2.7.6 is still installed -- in fact this will point to new code but the 2.7.6 may be confusing.
The Mac release supports Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard through 10.11 El Capitan.
