Minimalist time tracking macOS application that offers you the possibility to setup multiple timers and to organize them by category and by tags. #Track time #Time tracker #Time tagger #Tracker #Timer #Tagger
Tracking the time you spend on certain tasks can help you better understand how are you organizing your day, and adjust possible planning errors. TimeTag is a simple Mac app that can help you record your activity, and organize the timers into multiple categories.
Within the TimeTag main window you can create new timers and assign them a tag: as a result, each time you start the counter, a new recording session will be added to a specific tag.
However, before getting to this stage, you must navigate to the tags and categories managers to create your own databases. The bad news is that you cannot define new tags or categories as you go along, and the TimeTag application does not come with any user assistance system, which might lead to frustrating situations since you must discover the correct setup procedure on your own.
This step is very important because in the absence of an associated tag, the timer’s recordings will not be organized in any way, so you will not be able to know on what you were working on.
Noteworthy is that TimeTag takes the timers data and quickly generates daily reports, but also groups the information by tags and category data. This way you can quickly analyze what you have been doing for the past hours.
The TimeTag app can export your database to CSV or HTML file, which means that you can import the info into third party apps, and process it further.
Even though TimeTag has an iOS companion app, the app does not integrate synchronization capabilities until upgraded to its Pro version: you have to manually export the data and import it in the iOS TimeTag app.
TimeTag provides basic time tracking capabilities, but can prove to be rather counter intuitive to setup, and lacks the sync capabilities that one has come to expect when dealing with apps that have both desktop and mobile clients.
What's new in TimeTag 6.40:
- Fixed lots of bugs related to editing time records & moving dates, and all that stuff.
- Hopefully resolved the gray editing/adding record screen once and for all! apologies.
