New in iconXprit 3.0 (Aug 12, 2011)

  • Adjustments for Mac OSX v.10.7.
  • iconXprit 3 uses a separate preference file, but the resources saved in your "Library/Application Support/iconXprit" folder are shared with all the versions. If there is an old preference file, v.3 imports it automatically. In case an old version exists in your "Library/Services" folder, it will be automatically compressed to avoid duplication.
  • Unfortunately OSX Lion's Spotlight no longer searches metadata used for color groups and text.Please. So please use iconXprit's functions "List items with (color or text)" included in the status item menu.
  • Another drawback is OSX Lion's Finder sidebar, which no longer reflects custom icons. A bug report has been submitted with a hope to be fixed in a future OSX version.
  • Standard drag & drop installation to the "Applications" or "Utilities" folder.
  • Please double-click the newly installed iconXprit directly to make sure this version is used..
  • If you see iconXprit duplicated, please find all the old versions and remove them.
  • iconXprit is basically assumed to be used as a background app. To make it work as a foreground app (i.e. visible main menu and icon in the Dock) select the option "Show iconXprit in Dock" in the Preferences.
  • Support for 1024x1024 icon size if applicable.
  • "Show / Hide Grid" menu item (⌘G) is available for the editor panel.
  • A new icon, as you may have noticed.

New in iconXprit 2.4 (Sep 11, 2010)

  • option "text only" is available to hide the background image and make a text only icon.

  • Internal adjustments mostly relating to menu handling.

New in iconXprit 2.0 (Aug 31, 2009)

  • To avoid confusion with the earlier versions, iconXprit 2.0 uses a different preference file. So please reenter your registration information. You can, however, use the same customized resources. Please locate a backup of the "iconXprit" folder used by v.1.3 (to be found in your "Library/Application Support") in the corresponding location and restart iconXprit (for more details, please read "Release Note" included in the dmg package).
  • Note on 64-bit compatibility: iconXprit 2.0 is compiled to be 64-bit compatible but tested in the 32-bit mode only (unfortunately the 64-bit kernel cannot be tested on my iMac7,1). In case you encounter any problems by running iconXprit in the 64-bit mode, select the option "Open in 32-bit mode" and retry. This option is available on the Info panel, which you can open by selecting "iconXprit.service" in your Library/Services and press cmd-I. As a whole, this version may not be so stable because its test period is very short.

New in iconXprit 1.3 (Aug 24, 2009)

  • Saves custom resources (group colors, gradations and last editor state) in the Application Support folder for easier transfer and maintenance.
  • Warning: No backward compatibility - if you use an earlier version again, it will start with the default state, ignoring the resources mentioned above. To get back the earlier state, a backup preference file ("li.loos.trollin.iconXprit.plist") of an earlier version needs to be relocated in your Library/Preferences folder. So please make a backup beforehand.
  • Work-around of a possible crash on a MacBook Pro by opening the editor or using a text function.

  • However, this automatic selection can be prevented if the CapsLock-key is down.
  • Tooltips (esp. for the preview area and the mini-menu) behave better.
  • If they are hanging over, move the mouse somewhere else in the window or click once in the preview area.
  • The Czech localization is integrated.

  • A simple paint tool added to the editor panel - now you can add your own scribbles (or art works!) directly on the preview area.
  • A menu item "Save object image…" is added to the mini menu on the editor panel, so that you can save your painting separately in a jpeg, png or tiff format.

  • The aqua effect (both on the effect and the text panel) can now keep the original (multiple) colors.
  • The resizing/reshaping handles on the editor are fixed to respond properly.

New in iconXprit 1.1 (Sep 26, 2008)
