May 6, 2010
  • iTunesShut now is aware when TimeMachine is running and does not Shut down, restart or sleep the Mac until TimeMachine has finished. Some bug-fixes.

New in iTunesShut 4.9.9 (Jan 11, 2010)

  • A mistake in the settings lead to a non-UB-iTunesShut. This is now fixed: iTunesShut is again a Universal Binary. When the Automatic Selection yields a negative number, iTunesShut inserts zero instead.

New in iTunesShut 4.9.7 (Dec 15, 2009)

  • New feature called "Automatic selection"!
  • Imagine you are listening to music from iTunes and want to use iTunesShut to shut down your Mac after some tracks.
  • All what you have to do now is select a song (one click) in the current playlist, means in which you see the little speaker.
  • When you launch iTunesShut it counts the songs from the currently playing song until your selection, it fills in the number into the "Songs" text field.
  • Then you hit simply Start and iTunesShut does his work as usual.
  • You can activate this feature when you go under the Menu "iTunesShut" and check "Automatic selection" uncheck to deactivate.

New in iTunesShut 4.9.6 (Dec 3, 2009)

  • Some minor GUI tweaks in the Italian Localization.

  • Shut down, sleep or restart your Mac or pause/quit iTunes, if the playlist has finished.
  • Shut down, sleep or restart your Mac or pause/quit iTunes, if a given number of songs are played (works also when repeating songs).
  • Automatically decrease the volume after every song. The amount of total volume-decrease can be given by the user.
  • Shows the remaining time of playback.
  • Timer.
  • Auto-Cue and Auto-Pause.
  • Sleep Display immediately.
  • Shut Down your Mac and control iTunesShut with the Apple Remote.
  • Use your own AppleScript.
  • Screensaver built for iTunesShut shows the remaining number of songs to be played.
  • Delayed execution of the selected action.

New in iTunesShut 4.9.5 (Dec 3, 2009)

New in iTunesShut 4.9.4 (Oct 28, 2009)

  • Fixed a bug: When pausing a song in iTunes, iTunesShut counted down as if a new song would begin.

New in iTunesShut 4.9.2 (Jun 16, 2009)

  • Solved issue when iTunes is in "Repeat all" mode iTunesShut didn't calculated the time correctly. This was because iTunes has now a new abbreviation for the repeat modes.
  • The action "Pause iTunes" can also used with the "Delayed Action" feature.
  • The "Delayed Action" feature can be used also now with the timer function and with the option "Wait until playlist has finished".
  • For some users the "Delayed Action" didn't work properly. That is now resolved.

New in iTunesShut 4.9.1 (May 28, 2009)

  • Compatibility issue with Mac OS 10.4 resolved.

New in iTunesShut 4.9.0 (May 20, 2009)

  • New more clearly GUI (General User Interface).

New in iTunesShut 4.8.3 (May 15, 2009)

  • Several improvements:
  • When iTunesShut is waiting the progressbar shows the indeterminated state.
  • The display of the remaining time and the progress bar works now also after iTunesShut was in waiting mode.
  • iTunesShut now recognizes if app should quit itself after it was in waiting mode.

New in iTunesShut 4.8.2 (May 12, 2009)

  • Check in the Menu iTunesShut > Delayed Action and iTunesShut will wait 5 Min before it will take the selected action.
  • In this period of time you can start again iTunes for example with your iPhone and the iPhone App "Remote" from Apple.
  • iTunesShut goes then automatically back in the counting mode.
  • When you for example put the number 5 in the Songs Left textfield iTunesShut will again count 5 times down after you started playing music again.

New in iTunesShut 4.8.1 (Jan 6, 2009)

  • Ever wondered how many tracks iTunes will play before iTunesShut takes his action, while a beautiful screensaver covers the screen of your Mac? The new screensaver "ShutScreenSaver" shows you how many times iTunes will start playing a new song.
  • And the best is, ShutScreenSaver only appears when you want.
  • That means only when iTunesShut is running and only when you checked the Menu item under the menu "iTunesShut".
  • When iTunesShut has done his job, the previous screensaver will appear the next time you start the screensaver engine.
  • Obviously, you don't have to select "ShutScreenSaver" in the System Preferences. All what you have to do is, to double-click the "ShutScreenSaver" icon and click ok to install it.
  • When System Preferences select "ShutScreenSaver" you can simply choose your favourite screensaver again.
  • The screensaver only works, when iTunesShut counts down songs.
  • When you set a time or check "Wait until playlist has finished", the normal screensaver will appear.
  • The screensaver is also very practical when you want to see for example from your bed, how long iTunes will play music.
  • For that I propose, that you set in the System Preferences > Save Energy the slider for "Sleep Display" to 30 - 40 Min.
  • This ensures, that you can see the screensaver until the end of music playing.
  • Note: When you want to quit iTunesShut before it has done its job, be sure, that you click first the stop-button. Otherwise, your default screensaver willl not launch next time.

New in iTunesShut 4.8 (Dec 1, 2008)

  • Bug fixes for the Apple Remote feature of iTunesShut. And when you begin typing a number in a text field, the number in the other text field is automatically deleted and you can hit simply the Enter-Key to start iTunesShut.
  • The new great thing is, that you can now use your own AppleScript with iTunesShut 4.8. All what you have to do write your AppleScript (I have one included in the iTunesShut folder, which begins to play a new playlist) and then select in iTunesShut from the pop-up button "AppleScript" a Open…-Sheet appears where you can choose your Script. Then hit the Start-Button and after the conditions are fullfilled, iTunesShut will execute your AppleScript.

New in iTunesShut 4.7.6 (Oct 28, 2008)

  • When you click in the time-textfield the number in the songs-text field is automatically deleted.

New in iTunesShut 4.7.5 (Jul 10, 2008)

  • Resolved a problem with remembering the numbers from the text fields.

New in iTunesShut 4.7.3 (Jun 3, 2008)

  • Added Dansk localization and made other improvements.

New in iTunesShut 4.7.2 (May 15, 2008)

  • Now you can also increase/decrease the time with the AppleRemote in iTunesShut. All you need to do is to start the timer like you always do and then you can with the plus/minus buttons on the remote change the time.
  • The volume fade-out didn't work correctly: The last step of fading out was always omitted. That has now been corrected.
  • There was also a problem with the start button in some localizations.
  • Added french localization
  • With the right and left button on the Apple Remote you can increase and decrease respectively the volume of iTunes. The problem was, that when you activate "Listen to remote" it was impossible to control iTunes with the Apple Remote directly.

New in iTunesShut 4.7.1 (May 6, 2008)

  • With the plus and minus button on the AppleRemote you can increase and decrease respectively the number of songs left.
  • With the Play/Pause button you can Stop and Start iTunesShut.
  • You don't have to stop iTunesShut when you want increase/decrease the number of songs left. When you increase for example the counter, the progress bar resets himself and begins from zero.
  • The progress bar is visible from afar. Like that you can see when iTunesShut has nearly finished the countdown and then you can increase the number of songs left, if you want to listen to some more songs.

New in iTunesShut 4.7 (Feb 5, 2008)

  • You can now shut down your Mac with the Apple Remote. Press "Menu" or "Play/Pause" on your Apple Remote and the Mac shuts down. To function properly iTunesShut needs to be the frontmost application. To listen to the Apple Remote go to Menu iTunesShut > Listen to Remote. You can cancel listening to the remote by clicking again on "Listen to Remote". It is also possible to use this feature, if you have clicked on the Start-Button in the iTunesShut Interface.
