  • New: Corner Inspector.
  • Add corner styles to any shape vertex (where two straight lines meet), and create a huge range of inspiring shapes with ease. Choose from: radius, scoop, chamfer, notch, and several loop designs. Adjust corner size, smoothing, apply to vertices of any angle, and select which angle ranges to include. Corners retain their proportions as shapes are modified. Several Shape Library designs have been reimplemented and significantly improved by using these new corner capabilities.
  • New: Info Bar, with comprehensive contextual help and keyboard shortcuts.
  • Discover contextual keyboard shortcuts as you work, to supercharge the Toolkit and Shape Library without having to refer to the help pages! A huge productivity booster.
  • New: Keystroke constraints for sizing and positioning shapes.
  • All shape tools and drawing tools have been enhanced with keystroke constraints, to provide proportional resize, resize straight line segments along their own axis, resize about the center, ignore snap grid, constrain rotation angle to 5 degrees, and rotate about opposite corner. The new context-sensitive Info Bar identifies all available options.
  • New: Context-sensitive popups, showing shape size, position, angle and snapping constraints.
  • Displayed when drawing, dragging, rotating and editing shapes, these provide useful information when and where you need it.
  • New: Visual drawing aids added to shapes during creation and editing.

This style of PDF is often preferred by designers for sending to clients for previewing and proofing.

  • DRAWING
  • With a straight line segment and a shape as the current selection, resizing the shape by using its handles causes the shape to be modifed incorrectly.
  • Line join / end style inconsistency. Need to reset the cap style if using end styles. This is a problem with dashed lines.
  • There are a few problems with setting alpha blends for gradient fills. These are only present on Tiger.
  • Gradient fill transparencies sometimes become disconnected from the shape and don't appear to update the shape, when using the Fill inspector.
  • If you group several shapes when some of them are rotated, scaling doesn't work correctly.
  • Stroked Bezier curves don't always correctly show the end style.
  • TEXT
  • When selecting a paragraph and a following empty paragraph, the next following paragraph (i.e. a third paragraph) is selected as well.
  • First text indent on some lines doesn't work, if there's an empty line before it.
  • Occasional crashing in text editing, whilst changing line and paragraph settings.
  • Text selection can obscure glyphs on neighbouring lines for tight line spacing.
  • Adjusting tracking with one word on a line can leave glyphs in the gutter.
  • When text can't break it disappears. You can backspace, but if you click elsewhere you lose the insertion point and cannot get it back except by using Undo.
  • RUNAROUNDS AND INSETS
  • Insets can exhibit unusual behaviour on irregular shapes, when running on the PPC processor.
  • Inset for self-intersecting shapes doesn't always calculate correctly.
  • Occasionally runaround contents don't get recalculated.
  • DISPLAY
  • Shapes can sometimes leave thin grey 'droppings' when sizing, moving or deleting, particularly at low zoom.
  • Flow linking sometimes leaves droppings when linking paths.
  • When viewing baselines in Normal Work Mode, the rendering can produce unexpected artifacts.
  • Mixed attribute state handling on some Inspectors does not work correctly.
  • Zooming and panning can get redraws wrong in some tools.
  • Zooming in some tools generates unwanted effects.
  • Text selection is sometimes displayed in multiple windows.
  • OTHER
  • Tooltips are not working properly for Shape Library palettes.
  • A single column in a container can be made narrower. This is incorrect behavior.
  • With multiple shapes selected, you can't pick controller handles that lie underneath other shapes in some of the graphical editing tools.
  • Paper name is sometimes missing on the document window heading.
  • It is occasionally possible for the GUI to indicate two tools selected. This is caused by a Cocoa event handling issue.
  • Clicking on the Thumbnails navigator then zooming the document window with Option-scroll, loses the mouse reference position.
  • The Thumbnails navigator scrollbar doesn't synchronize its size at the point when new pages are added.
  • On the Thumbnails navigator, master pages are occasionally clipped incorrectly. This does not affect the rendering on the document window view.
  • Clicking on the Inspectors window title bars to open/close each Inspector does not always recognize the click - particularly near the top of the bar.
  • Shadows with a big offset sometimes get clipped.
  • The Apple Colors panel sometimes loses connection with the control that called it.
  • Editing an open file that has then been dragged back onto the iStudio dock icon may cause a crash.

  • Color management of text, stroke, fill and shadow colors improved by preserving the definition colorspace when picking, loading or saving colors. Associated color profiles are embedded in iStudio document files and PDF print files. (Previous versions of iStudio Publisher converted all colors to the Mac OS X internal calibrated RGB, which was then saved in our file structure.)
  • Curve creation and aggregation added to the Multi-Line Tool.

  • Fixed the action of modifier keys, so that they now have immediate effect in tools that respond to them, e.g. when using the Shape Library and pressing the Command key to create a text-only shape. (Previously, the effect was not displayed until the next mouse movement).
  • Fixed a bug that caused a crash when deleting the last page of a document with the Thumbnails navigator open.
  • Fixed a bug that sometimes prevented a newly created object from being immediately displayed in the Thumbnails navigator (if open) or on a second document window.
  • Fixed a Bezier Curve Tool bug that generated a user prompt to close a curve with only two points, when the resulting curve would be created open.
