  • Fixed bug:

  • Fixed a bug where the program would crash when the shape editor window was closed
  • Recoded sections of the program to ensure compatibility with future versions of the operating system.

  • Portions have been recoded to ensure the program will run in future versions of OS X.

  • Added check-box to the word search creation window to include or exclude spaces in multiple words when creating the word search. See help file for full explanation.

  • Fixed a bug in OS X 10.9 when using shapes where an extra line of characters was drawn at the bottom of the word search.

  • Opening of both object and png files is now possible by drag and drop in the Shape editor.
  • A new column has been added to the input table in the main window to allow words to be excluded from the word search creation.
  • The font set in the preferences for the word column in the input table now also applies to the font of the length column in the table.

  • Three new sort criteria have been added:
  • Words with clues can be sorted to the top of the table
  • Excluded words can be sorted to the top of the table
  • Excluded words can be sorted to the bottom of the table

New in WordSearch 4 1.3.0 (Dec 9, 2011)

  • An integrated shape editor has been added to allow shapes to be created and edited within the WordSearch 4 application.
  • A short tutorial on the shape editor is available from the help menu and from within the help file.
  • A new shape management window has been added to allow the adding, deleting and activating of shapes.
  • The web site now has a page where users can exchange shapes that they have created.
  • The application now uses Auto Save and Versions in OS X Lion. This feature applies to the wordsearch files only and not to the shape files. Auto Save and Versions may, if you wish, be turned off in the preferences.

  • Drag and drop between windows now works correctly in OS 10.6
  • The help file is now the correct help file. Previous versions of the program had an unfinished help file that had, somehow, got included in error.

  • All of the controls for the wordsearch are now on one single tab rather than the two tabs used previously. A button has been added to allow the more infrequently used controls to be hidden.

  • All of the controls for the clues are now on one single tab rather than the two tabs used previously.
  • The title and instruction block controls are located in their own new tab.

  • Added a checkbox on the wordsearch tab and the title and instruction tab to allow the guide lines on the wysiwyg printed page display to be toggled on and off
  • Also added a button on the set margins window to allow all margins to be quickly set to the same value.
  • In addition there have been various minor user interface changes and bug fixes.

  • The program will now run and display correctly on all machines with display size of 1280 x 800 and greater.
  • Printing can now be done directly from the creation window.
  • Fixed the following bugs that only occurred in OS 10.7
  • Importing words via drag and drop and from a file was broken.
  • Wordsearch would disappear in the creation window if the title bar was clicked.
  • Adding a new shape froze the program.

  • Relabelled some buttons to make their use more clear
  • The print window was confusing in its complexity so grouped related objects and placed them in labelled boxes to make them less confusing
  • Made the following changes to the alert that shows if there are banned words in a newly created wordsearch:-
  • Display is now dependant solely on there being a banned word in the wordsearch. i.e. the alert cannot be suppressed
