  • Minor fixes and improvements. The most important might be the rebinding of the CMD-key. As 80% have voted on having the CMD-key doing the work of the CTRL-key, this feature is on by default, now.

  • As noted earlier, the no-op file winemenubuilder.exe triggered some anti virus checks. Starting with 1.7.34 it should pass them all.

  • Please download WineBottler directly from http://winebottler.kronenberg.org – there are some “download”-websites” that bundle WineBottler into an installer that will install adware on your system, too.
  • UI Improvements:
  • Tweaking the new look and adding it to the progress window.
  • Bug fixing:
  • Fixed a bug, that prevented WineBottler from finishing custom Apps on some Yosemite Macs.

  • Finally got around to drop the skeuomorphism in WineBottler – it was kind of looking like an alien on Yosemite, but it looks like there is still some way to go, again.

New in WineBottler 1.7.25 Dev (Sep 1, 2014)

  • We did start out with fixing a lot of bugs, which caused trouble for first-time users: mainly one that could lead to an immediate prefix abort on popular automated installs like Metatrader 4 and Notepad++.
  • Then we further tweaked the inner workings, so that the app feels more responsive on startup.
  • Next we went on with adding more log-messages and more “human readable” alerts for the most common error reports we get:
  • there is no internet connection
  • a file can not be written
  • Finally we started adding more advanced options for the developers:
  • optionally remove mono from the prefix (this will cut down the app weight by 200mb!)
  • add a Category Type to the app
  • add a Copyright string to the app

New in WineBottler 1.7.11 Dev (Feb 15, 2014)

  • Some quick fixes for cases, where your new app would just not open if the filename.
  • Also brings all the goodies of Wine 1.7.11.

New in WineBottler 1.7.10 Dev (Jan 20, 2014)

  • Addresses an installation issue with Windows based programs that come on CD-ROM or not in a single .msi or .exe file (for example a setup.exe together with some .cab and .ini files). It will be the base for the forthcoming stable 1.6.2 which should be out a few days from now.
  • Other things that where improved or fixed:
  • Faster start of WineBottler created apps: support for env variables, guessing location and using spotlight only as a last resort.
  • wine menu not found errors: we use a dummy winemenubuilder.exe to avoid errors as suggest by winehq.
  • WineBottler crashes when a bottle is removed: Cases where NSError != 0, but remove succeeded.
  • Codesigning: only try to code sign, if a valid signature is found.

  • libraries: Massive cleanup for Mavericks, especially icotool comes now with it’s own deps.
  • Codesigning: Recompiled all frameworks with proper code signing to satisfy the new Gatekeeper guidelines.
  • prefix templates: Fixed. Now you can create an app with – say – Java and use it as a template to create new apps with exe needing Java.

  • This release of WineBottler has an eye on “special” .exe names, i.E. spaces, non-alphanumeric characters and certain starting letters .Looks like we still had some trouble with escaped characters at some points, which caused some trouble with a lot of newer programs with fancy names.
