New in WindowClipMBI 1.2.1 (Feb 6, 2015)

  • Maintenance update for latest Mac OS
  • The "Open in Preview" feature is now implemented without the need for AppleScripts or modifying System Preferences to enable System Events.
  • Help menu link to the website has been fixed.
  • Fixed the "Filter" popup menu in the "App Filter" pane of preferences, it was not properly initialized.
  • Fixed "untrimmed" composites with the option to include the Desktop picture.

New in WindowClipMBI 1.2 (Mar 20, 2014)

  • Fixed the method for creating a "trimmed composite" of all windows of an application.
  • This menu item is available in the sub-menu of each listed app menu item.
  • A trimmed composite is based on image transparency in the composite of all app windows.

New in WindowClipMBI 1.1.9 (Sep 17, 2012)

  • Improved the reflection mechanism to be more realistic on white backgrounds.

New in WindowClipMBI 1.1.8 (Sep 10, 2012)

  • Fixed an issue where the current desktop file was not always properly found.

New in WindowClipMBI 1.1.7 (Feb 2, 2011)

  • A new menu item named "Shade" is now available in the menu, under "Timed screenshot…" , which enables you to hide and show the desktop for screenshots.
  • The default option "New from Clipboard in Preview" has been changed to "yes."

New in WindowClipMBI 1.1.6 (Jan 23, 2011)

  • LZW compression is applied to the TIFF images generated in composite shots, considerably reducing the size of the composite clipboard image. (This is menu items "Composite With Delay" and "Trimmed Composite With Delay")
  • The delay when taking composites is now settable in the Preferences window. (This is menu items "Composite With Delay" and "Trimmed Composite With Delay")
  • The menu items "Composite" and "Trimmed Composite" have been modified to emphasize that a delay is applied so you have time to set up the windows before the composite shot is taken. They now show the value of the delay.
  • Ten more special effect filters have been added to the filter popup menu in Preferences:.
  • The special effects feature has been fixed by adding an item named "None" to the menu. Previously the only way to remove a filter was to quit the program and restart it to reset the menu. Now you can simply select "None."

New in WindowClipMBI 1.1.5 (Dec 16, 2010)

  • When creating reflections for single window and composites shots the following new parameters may be set using slider controls in the Preferences window. This enables the creation of more dramatic reflections.
  • Gradient Offset: Increases the offset from the reflection's base to the beginning of the gradient mask
  • Gradient Steepness: Decreases the rate the gradient mask transitions from opaque to transparent
  • Perspective Width: Increases the width of the top of the reflection
  • Perspective Height: Increases the distance of the top of the reflection from the bottom
  • Reflection Offset: Specify the pixel distance, up or down, of the reflection's base from the image base. ("Up" is positive)
  • The "Image Should Be Opaque" setting is taken into consideration when creating the reflection now. So, if this option is off, the image with its reflection is now imaged onto a transparent background.

New in WindowClipMBI 1.1.4 (Dec 3, 2010)

  • Image reflections now also apply to trimmed composites of app windows if the option "include reflection" is selected in the menu.
  • The trimmer has been modified to take into account the alpha layer in the image when computing color distance between a given image pixel and the top-left corner pixel it is being compared to for trimming. This produces better trimming of composite images which have a transparent background.

New in WindowClipMBI 1.1.3 (Nov 29, 2010)

  • A new option has been added to the menu itself named "Include reflection." When this option is selected all window image shots will have a slight reflection below them. See accompanying image for an example.

New in WindowClipMBI 1.1.2 (Oct 27, 2010)

  • A new application submenu item labeled "Trimmed Composite" was added. This feature is similar to "Composite," creating a layered image consisting of all the current windows of the selected application, but trimmed to the smallest rectangle that contains them. ("Composite" creates a full screen image of all the windows.)
  • The "Settings" Preference pane introduces a popup menu for selecting various filters to apply to images before they are copied to the clipboard. Various choices are available and currently include: "Dot Screen", "Hatched Screen", "Bloom", "Crystallize", "Pixellate" and many more. (Configurations will follow soon.)

New in WindowClipMBI 1.1.1 (Oct 25, 2010)

  • Management of the various options available in Preferences has been simplified by moving the Preferences pane out of System Preferences and into the menu bar application itself. This simplifies both installation and access of preferences.
  • To facilitate creating composite images of all the current windows of any application, this function is now executed when you select the menu item for the app itself (in addition to selecting the "Create Composite" menu item of its submenu.)
  • The scaling of images has been modified. Although you can set the scale to 0, a limit is placed on how small an image can be scaled. The minimum image size is now 16 pixels for both width and height.
  • The scale factor was not properly initialized when the program was run for the first time. It is now initialized to 1, or no scaling.
  • An "About" menu item has been added to the menu so that you can find the current version quickly and easily.

New in WindowClipMBI 1.1 (Oct 20, 2010)

  • Added a service menu item to the application. This service item is called "Composite Window Clip" and its function is identical to the menu item "Composite" in each submenu of the application menu: it creates a composited image of all windows of the front application, putting it on the clipboard and optionally opening it as a new document in Preview. You may need to select this option in Services Preferences to turn it on. You can also use Services Preferences to assign a keyboard shortcut to invoke it.

New in WindowClipMBI 1.0.9 (Oct 17, 2010)

  • A new option has been added to the preferences: "Include Desktop Picture in Composites." This option enables you to include the Desktop Picture as the background image of a composite of an applications windows.

New in WindowClipMBI 1.0.8 (Oct 7, 2010)

  • When the option to build the window menu using submenus is selected, each application submenu now includes a menu item named "Create Composite." When this menu item is selected a composite image of all the applications windows is created, superimposed on a blank (clear) background whose size matches your desktop. If a scale factor has been selected in the menu, this scale factor will be applied to the composite image. The composite image is placed on the clipboard, and respects the option to open in Preview.

New in WindowClipMBI 1.0.7 (Sep 15, 2010)

  • When the window is imaged a "camera snapshot" sound is played for feedback; as well as a completion sound when all processing of the image, such as saving, scaling etc. is completed.

New in WindowClipMBI 1.0.6 (Aug 9, 2010)

  • Added a new menu item for specifying the option to include the screen cursor in a screen grab. Typically the cursor is not displayed in screenshots. Select this option by clicking the "Include Cursor" checkbox underneath the "Timed Screenshot…" menu item.
  • Added a new menu item for specifying a percent scaling to be applied to any window picture. The valid values range from 1 to 100%. Select the value using the new slider above the menu's window list.

New in WindowClipMBI 1.0.5 (Aug 8, 2010)

  • Added a menu item labeled "Timed Screenshot…" that will present a dialog window for taking a scaled, timed screenshot. You can select a time between 0 and 60 seconds, and a scaling of 100% or below. The image is placed on the clipboard, and optionally opened in Preview if "New from Clipboard in Preview" is selected (a feature introduced in version 1.0.3) The menu title displays a countdown to when the screenshot will be taken.

New in WindowClipMBI 1.0.4 (Aug 2, 2010)

  • Added a menu item labeled "Select Window Before Imaging" that will simulate clicking on the window you want to image in order to activate it. If you want a picture of the window in a deactivated state then do not select this option.

New in WindowClipMBI 1.0.3 (Jul 30, 2010)

  • Added a menu item labeled "New from Clipboard in Preview" that will create a new document in the application "Preview" using the clipboard image of the selected window. This facilitates saving the clipboard contents to a file on your computer. Select this menu item to toggle the setting; a check mark will be placed on the menu item when the option is selected.

New in WindowClipMBI 1.0.2 (Jun 26, 2010)

  • Added "Make As Submenus" in the Preference Settings pane to build the window clippings menu using submenus of clippings per application. This option is selected by default.
  • Added a new Preferences pane labeled "App Filter." Use the filter to prevent windows from the given list of applications to display in the menu of window clippings. Drag applications into the list or use the "Add" button for browsing.

New in WindowClipMBI 1.0.1 (Jun 22, 2010)

  • Initial public release.
