Tuck Changelog

What's new in Tuck 1.0 Build 21

Jun 1, 2015
  • Initial release!

New in Tuck 1.0 Beta 20 (Apr 27, 2015)

  • Stability & Behavior:
  • The primary focus of this beta release is to improve stability and behavior so Tuck does what you expect 99% of the time. I'm feeling much more confident about finally releasing 1.0 proper.
  • Major Changes:
  • Changed the default behavior from "Hide by leaving window area" to "Hide by hitting the screen edge." This behavior may feel less intuitive, but it solves a lot of issues, such as being able to mouse to the menu bar without the window hiding. You can revert to the old behavior in the new Behavior Prefs (see below).
  • Dropped support for Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard, so the minimum OS required is now OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard.
  • 64-bit! Recompiled everything on OS X 10.10 Yosemite with Xcode 6.3. This should give Tuck some performance and memory improvements.
  • Other Improvements:
  • Significantly improved ability to correctly focus the previous app/window when a tucked window is hidden.
  • Improved window handling if an app is hidden and shown, making sure to put the window back to its tucked position.
  • Improved recovery of windows after a Tuck crash.
  • Better detection of when a window is closed so Tuck can stop worrying about it.
  • Fixed several crashes including a crash if the Swipe shortcut wasn't defined.
  • Fixed some memory leaks.
  • Added Behavior Preferences:
  • Even with all these goodies here, there are dozens of hidden features in Tuck, but those will have to wait until after 1.0.
  • Changes to the Shortcuts Preferences:
  • Added a new "Toggle Tucked Windows" shortcut, so if a tucked window is hidden it's shown and if the window is showing it's hidden.
  • Disabled the Swipe shortcut by default so it doesn't accidentally trigger for new users prior to them learning about it.
  • Sound Effects:
  • Added the ability to enable/disable individual sound effects.
  • Improved and changed a few sound effects.
  • Fixed an issue where the "show" sound would repeat if the cursor was held against the screen edge on Yosemite.
  • Various Little Fixes and Changes:
  • Adjusted Preference panes to have a consistent width.
  • Workaround to allow the "Open Tuck Menu" shortcut to also close the menu if it's open.
  • This beta build will expire around August 11, 2015.
