New in Toucan 2.1.1 (Jan 7, 2014)
- Fixed compatibility with OS X 10.9 Mavericks. Some transitions were causing a crash on Mavericks, that is fixed now. Mavericks requires some additional setup, which was added in Toucan 2.1.1.
New in Toucan 2.1 (Dec 10, 2013)
- In this update the display of images has been completely re-done. Toucan now uses a different more powerful graphics system, Core Animation. This allows Toucan to do more advanced stuff. Many more transition effects are possible now. And it clears the way for future improvements. Unfortunately the performance of Core Animation on older Macs is not good enough. So you need a fairly new Mac. PPC Mac's are not supported anymore for the same reason.

- Bug fixes for the hotfolder. Sometimes updates would stop.
- Support for orientation, images straight from the camera would sometimes be displayed in the wrong orientation. Now the orientation is checked and the image rotated before display. This needs further improvement, it is now far to slow, because the whole image is rotated in memory.
- Split the app into two versions. One for Mac OS 10.7 and newer and a version for 10.5 and newer that supports PowerPC Macs. The reason is to better support Mountain Lion.
New in Toucan 2.0.4 (Oct 29, 2012)
- Sort order preference added. Sort by modification date or filename. When sorting by filename, numbers are sorted in numerical order. For example Picture10 will come after Picture2.
- New hot-folder option. Now you can choose between showing new images as soon as possible or just add them to the slideshow in sorted order.
- Some bug fixes.
New in Toucan 2.0.3 (Jul 11, 2012)
- This version adds a few basic transition effects. Choose an effect from the preferences window.
- It is now also possible to open Toucan with an empty folder. This will then be a hot folder and Toucan will wait until an image is added.
New in Toucan 1.5 (Nov 26, 2008)
- Auto Update Folder option in preferences. When starting the next loop of the slideshow, the current folder is scanned again.
- New midsize pointer.
- When you select to show images on a second monitor, that is now remembered.
