  • Instead, only those texts that would have appeared in the hidden parts won’t be visible (no surprise there). Editing of floating texts is still available only in the normal display mode, though.

  • A keyboard shortcut to toggle chord names has been added: c.

New in Tablatures 1.28 (Jun 28, 2010)

  • Added support to read and save Unicode strings. This means that now you can use any character set you want (Japanese, Korean, Greek, etc…) and your texts won't be mangled upon saving.
  • Although it's supported by the file format, other PowerTab-based applications might not handle international charsets (for instance, PTE on Windows will display question marks in presence of non-Latin1 characters).

New in Tablatures 1.20 (Nov 5, 2009)

  • MIDI playback: the tempo slider can be used to speed the song up too (up to 2x faster than the tempo set in the document).
  • Standard notation: extra notation lines could be drawn with an huge length, thus causing excessive slowdown, when a system contained many positions. Fixed.

New in Tablatures 1.19 (Oct 8, 2009)

  • Chord Dictionary: disable the "Add to Score" button when no document is open.
  • Disabled autosave on GuitarPro documents, to avoid problems. It's a good practice to convert GP docs to PowerTab before starting to edit them, anyway.

New in Tablatures 1.18 (Sep 7, 2009)

  • Preferences: added an option to save documents automatically every X minutes. Autosaved documents will appear as "name (Autosaved).ptb" in the same directory of the original document, or in "~/Library/Autosave Information" for new, never saved before documents. In case Tablatures crashes, autosaved documents will automatically be reopened.
  • Editing the tablature or performing undo/redo while playback was looping over a section could result in a crash. Fixed.

  • Improves stability in a couple of situations.

  • Save as... will properly change file type to .ptb when used with Guitar Pro documents.

New in Tablatures 1.13 (Apr 16, 2009)

  • MIDI playback: if a score containing a repetition had an empty section at the end, playback wouldn't start. Fixed.
  • Added an option to change the tablature font size in "Edit" -> "Tablature Staff Properties..."

New in Tablatures 1.12 (Mar 12, 2009)

  • Standard notation: fixed some rendering errors.
  • Rhythm slash: fixed a rendering bug involving beamings of 16th notes.

New in Tablatures 1.11 (Jan 7, 2009)

  • Added floating texts: you can place a text box anywhere you want, simply drag'n'drop the floating text from the Musical Symbols Panel and edit it to your heart's desire.

  • The beaming algorithm has been improved.

New in Tablatures 1.10 (Oct 27, 2008)

  • This version features a totally rewritten copy & paste support which vastly improves the previous basic implementation.
  • Also, when deleting a selection, everything inside it will be removed (chord texts, directions, etc...).
  • In the previous version, only notes and barlines were deleted, but that wasn't so intuitive or useful.

New in Tablatures 1.9 (Aug 26, 2008)

  • Added a zoom slider at the bottom of the window.
  • The line spacing for the tablature staff can be adjusted (see the menu "Edit" -> "Tablature Staff Properties...").
  • MIDI playback: when a repeat end bar line is encountered, its repeat count value is ignored if there are alternate endings in the bar. This behaviour is similar to that of PowerTabEditor.
  • MIDI playback: added an option to start with a metronome intro ("MIDI" -> "Metronome Intro").

New in Tablatures 1.8 (Jul 10, 2008)

  • Added an option to draw left-handed chord diagrams.
  • MIDI playback can be paused. A pause button is available among those that can be added to the toolbar.
  • Added "Uniform Positions Width" in the Score menu: it makes the width of positions (i.e. the distance between notes) uniform across the whole score.

New in Tablatures 1.6 (Apr 1, 2008)

  • Improved cursor movements.
  • If you add a time/key signature to a barline, the system is re-layouted to fit all the notes.
  • When editing a tempo marker, the BPM value wasn't updated if you closed the dialog while the focus was still on the tempo text box. Fixed.
  • Sometimes a key signature couldn't be changed. Fixed.
  • Updated the Apple Remote functions to support Leopard.

New in Tablatures 1.5 (Feb 18, 2008)

  • The most important addition in this release is a basic and experimental* support for GuitarPro 3-5 files (*.gp3, .gp4, .gp5). GP tablatures can be read, but they will be converted to PowerTab when saved, keeping only the first two scores since that is PTB's limit.

New in Tablatures 1.3 (Dec 11, 2007)

  • Chord Dictionary: A flat/sharp wasn't correctly set. Fixed.
  • When you add a system, the last time and key signatures are automatically pre-set for the new one, even if they're not shown.

  • Keyboard shortcuts to edit rests have been added.
  • Fixed the way accidentals are rendered.
  • Sometimes notes were incorrectly beamed together. Fixed.
  • Properly layout the bass score when loading a tab.
  • When opening a document, if the guitar score is totally empty, the bass score will be automatically displayed.
  • Bar numbers at the beginning of the system take multibar rests into account.
  • Added a keyboard shortcut to remove a position (shift space).
  • When changing the time/key signature of a barline, Show is automatically checked.

New in Tablatures 1.1 (Nov 13, 2007)

  • Added a Chord Dictionary. Apart from generating a lot of chord voicings, it also allows to add chord diagrams to the tablature.
  • Chord Diagrams can be removed from a tablature using drag'n'drop.
  • PowertTabEditor doesn't perform a full layout of the systems when loading a document. Tablatures now saves the result of its layout engine in the .ptb files so that they can be opened in PTE without being garbled.
  • Implemented the code behind the "Choose Tuning" button in the "Edit Guitars" sheet.
